This workshop is organized by BaanDinDoi and hosted by Earth Home near Chiang Mai (www.earthhomethailand.com)
This 5-day workshop will help you to understand the advantages of a well-designed earth building: simple, natural, affordable, healthy, long lasting and energy saving.
- You will use natural materials such as earth, sand, straw, rice husk and bamboo.
- You will practise three building techniques: earth bricks (Adobe), wattle and daub, and cob
- You will practise soil testing, making earth mix, earth plastering.
You will also learn about:
- environmentally friendly foundations
- simple passive cooling/heating techniques
- natural roof and roof insulation
And … You will also learn by observing and commenting Earth Home buildings, and through several short videos.
A few movies will be proposed after diner.
On request: Thai massage available on site (400 bahts for 2 hours)
Prior experience or a background in construction is NOT required.
You will be given printed handouts and the digital version of the training materials including additional documents (PDF files, Videos) and useful links if you wish to learn further.
After this course, practise more on a real building project by joining one of our ‘Learn and Build’ workshops and get 20% discount.
The course will be held at Earth Home Thailand at Mae Taeng, near Chiang Mai, and will have a maximum of 8 participants.
Trainer: Alain Madec, natural builder and founder of ‘Baan Din Doi’.
Course schedule: 8.30 to 18.00 with several breaks; Lunch break: 12.00 to 14.00
Participants will stay in adobe bricks bedrooms. Each bedroom is suitable for 2 people and has its own private toilet and bathroom.
All meals will be vegetarian food with some meat and fish options.
9,500 baht/person (275 euros, 310 USD). This fee includes instruction, accommodation, all meals during the course, pick-up and drop-off at Chiang Mai.
